Mind Body Yoga (new class fall 2018)

The framework of this class is a deliberately-paced vinyasa flow, emphasizing the development of body intuition. We will be encouraging you to listen to your body’s signals and use modifications that serve you and where you currently are in your yoga practice. The class will focus on alignment, anatomy, breathing, meditation and other techniques to enhance the body-mind connection both on the mat and beyond. This class is open to beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a more passive practice with variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia. Yin is an especially complimentary practice for athletes or anyone who regularly has a strong Vinyasa, Ashtanga, or Power Yoga practice. Yin yoga is a perfect compliment to a busy life because it invites you to slow down. No matter your yoga practice, it’s all about coming back to your center.

Warm Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,” and results in smoothly flowing movements which are almost dance-like, providing some of the benefits of a cardio workout.

In this Vinyasa class, you will be led into a series of poses through the power of inhaling and exhaling. There will be some holds in standing postures, with continued emphasis on alignment and breath. Room temperature is about 82 degrees. Quiet your mind and release deep-seated tension in your body through this unique, guided meditation.

Alignment based Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow classes are a practice of linking movement with the breath, thereby providing some of the benefits of a cardio workout. This particular class will take time for more detailed instruction on proper alignment in the postures. Expect to be challenged as poses are held and the smaller muscle groups of your body are strengthened, while the larger muscles are lengthened.

Core Strengthening Vinyasa Flow

A vinyasa flow class links movement of the body with the breath, thereby producing some of the benefits of a cardio workout. In this core strengthening practice, we focus on firing up your core center without the usual crunches or sit-ups. Expect to practice hard with toning mat work and arm balances that will make you sweat and leave you refreshed, empowered and invigorated!

Some prior yoga experience is recommended before participating in this class.

Slow Flow Vinyasa

Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,” and this particular practice will slowly and consciously guide you into a series of poses through the power of inhaling and exhaling.

This class is beginner friendly and will gently take you in and out of the postures.
